The last stop of the Carnival Sensation cruise ship belonging to the Carnival Cruise Line was Aliağa. The ship anchored in Aliağa to be dismantled.
The cruise ship Carnival Sensation made its last voyage to Aliağa. The Fantasy-class ship was sold to a shipyard in Aliağa for dismantling earlier this year.
The ship Carnival Sensation, built-in 1993, left the Bahamas on March 18 and crossed the Atlantic Ocean for the last time on its way to the shipbreaking facility.
The ship, which is 261 meters long and 36 meters wide, has a capacity of 2,634 passengers. The dismantling of the ship, which has served for 29 years in marine tourism, will begin soon.
Carnival Cruise Line chose the Aliaga shipyard for dismantling due to its higher safety standards and a stronger commitment to environmentally friendly techniques.
Carnival Sensation has suffered the same fate as its Fantasy-class sisters in recent months. Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Inspiration, and Carnival Imagination were similarly scrapped at the Aliağa shipyard on Turkey’s west coast in the Aegean Sea.
Carnival Fantasy was the first to reach Aliağa and anchored in Aliağa on 29 July 2020. Then Carnival Inspiration was sent for disassembly.
Carnival Cruise Line’s other ship, Carnival Fascination, was also scrapped in February 2022, but she was sold to the Gadani shipyard in Pakistan.
Only three of the eight Fantasy-class ships are in service today, but Carnival Ecstasy will be retired in October after a final voyage on 10 October. It is not yet known whether the ship will be scrapped or sold to another company.
The last two Fantasy-class ships, Carnival Paradise and Carnival Elation are scheduled to remain in service.
