The Maritime Library, which was built on behalf of Captain İdris Engin Baş, who died as a result of a heart attack while working as the Maritime Traffic Chief Operator in Istanbul Ship Traffic Services, was put into service with a ceremony.
‘Captain İdris Engin Baş Maritime Library’, which was brought to life by the Dokuz Eylül University Maritime Faculty Alumni Association and the Maritime Traffic Operators Association, was put into service with a ceremony at Gündüz Aybay Maritime Center, where the Maritime Traffic Operators Association’s headquarters is located.
Tuba Baş, the wife of the late Engin İdris Baş, cut the opening ribbon of the library, which was opened in 2007 in the name of Marine Traffic Operator Captain Engin İdris Baş, who graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Maritime Faculty Deck Department.
Captain Selahattin Alan from the Maritime Traffic Operators Association, Captain Ozan Sayın, Captain Zafer Öztürk, Captain Cenk Bayar, Captain Garip Erdoğan and one of the family members of Captain Engin İdris Baş, his wife Tuba Baş, his daughter Nehir Baş, Ömer Baş, Havva Baş, Firdes Yağmur Çelik, Nurcan Çelik, Merve Rakıcı, Semih Şeker Şaban Çelik, along with Mert İyegün, Ufuk Demircan and Kaptan Salih Çok were present at the opening of the ‘Maritime Library’. The library contains books on maritime affairs.
