With a lifting capacity of 3 thousand tons, the submarine pool was launched with a ceremony, which is the only one in the world in its class and built within the scope of the project carried out by the Ministry of National Defense.
The submarine pool was launched with a ceremony at Hicri Ercili Shipyard in the Altınova district of Yalova, completed within the scope of the contract signed between the Ministry of National Defense General Directorate of Shipyards and the Military Factory and Shipyard Operation Joint Stock Company (ASFAT) on December 17, 2019.
The submarine was manufactured to increase its construction, maintenance, and repair infrastructure and capabilities.
The submarine dock was manufactured to produce national submarines and increase the submarine construction and maintenance and repair infrastructure and capabilities of the Gölcük Shipyard Command, where the maintenance, repair, and modernization activities of submarines are carried out uninterruptedly.
Explaining that the coating on the roof has insulation at European standards, Karaçorlu said:
“We aim to bring us one step closer to the goal of the Blue Homeland.”
“There is no thermal transmittance. The standards and project design are in NATO standards. It was checked together with Türk Loydu. One of the features that distinguish this pool from other pools is 100 knots wind speed, which has a pooling capacity on open seas, so there is no change in its stability even at a high wind speed. It will mainly be used in the navy in Gölcük. The pool is 105 meters long, 19 meters high, 25 meters wide, and has a maximum diving depth of 16.5 meters. It can reach this depth in a short time like 75 minutes. It contains very important electronic automation systems. Some of them are ship-centering systems, reflection systems, and underwater imaging systems. These are all systems that are important to docked submarine and ship safety. We aim to deliver within this year. We aim to bring us one step closer to our goal of a Blue Homeland.”
It will be able to carry out maintenance and repair activities of the submarine anywhere without being connected to the port.
The pool, which can accommodate 28 pool personnel and 14 submarine duty staff for 5 days without refueling, will also be able to carry out maintenance and repair activities of the submarine anywhere thanks to the 4 diesel generators, without being connected to the port.
With a light weight of 4,000 tons and a lifting capacity of 3,000 tons, the submarine pool has a length of 105 meters, a width of 25.1 meters, and a height of 19.95 meters.
