Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, which has brought together the Turkish Shipbuilding and Sub-Industry and world maritime professionals in Turkey for 16 years, was opened to visitors with a ceremony at Viaport Marina Tuzla on November 30. 180 attenders and 600 brands from 37 countries
Atilla Marangozoğlu, General Manager of Informa Markets Turkey, which is held in Istanbul every two years on behalf of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, spoke at the opening ceremony of the fair: “Many things have changed in the world in a short time since our meeting at Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul. The pandemic that we are currently experiencing at the global level has once again shown how vital the maritime industry plays for the continuity of the supply chain. As Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, we focused on the opportunities created by this big change and transformation process for the sector. We are hosting 180 attenders and 600 brands from 37 countries, mainly Germany, England, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, EU, China, South Korea, Italy and Spain, at our fair that we held in Viaport Marina Tuzla between November 30 and December 3, 2021. I believe that we will contribute to the meeting of the Turkish Shipbuilding and Sub-Industry sector with new markets and increase its competitiveness at Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, the most important trade and marketing platform of the region.”
Annual export of 2 billion dollars in shipbuilding
Expressing that he sees fairs such as Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul as important opportunities for shipbuilding industry enthusiasts to become widespread and sea enthusiasts to come together with manufacturers, Murat Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association GİSBİR, said, “It is our greatest wish that Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, which I think contributes to our country, economy and industry, becomes a brand like other examples in the world. Today, we are among the few countries in the World that are building their own military ships. We maintain our place among the top three in the world in yacht building. I know that there are companies that have become brands in the world today among Turkish yacht manufacturers and I am proud of this. When we add the ferries, energy ships, tugs, offshore ships, fishing ships, chemical tankers, cargo ships and other commercial ships that we have built in our country and their maintenance and repair, our annual exports have approached 2 billion dollars. Our industry continues to work with determination so that our exports go further every year.”

Underlining that the fairs regarding the ship and yacht industries held in Turkey are important for the gathering of local and international industry stakeholders, Cem Seven, Chairman of the Board of GYHİB, said, “As the Ship Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association, we undertake Turkey’s national participation in sectoral fairs held abroad. We support the sectoral fairs held in our country to contribute to the international promotion of both our country and Turkey’s ship and yacht building sectors. After the official opening, the presidents, industry professionals and members of the press visited the stands one by one and met with the representatives of the participating companies.

Exposhipping Istanbul, the 16th International Maritime Fair & Conference, also hosts events that will expand the horizons of the maritime industry. The latest technological developments in the sector, as well as new products and brands will be introduced at the “Marine Talks” stage with the presentations of the attenders and the guests who are experts in their fields. President Abdülvahit Şimşek, Sevda Güler, Manager of Catering, Mükremin İnan, Manager of Global Supply, and Sevinç İlgar Nas, Manager of Quality Assurance, attended the conference organized by AVS Global on November 30, the first day of the fair as speakers. In the event, which was followed with interest, the topics of provision management and catering, global ship supply and technical store management and quality management were discussed.

On the second day of the fair, an intense program at Marine Talks, Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul awaits its attenders and visitors on December 1. In the afternoon sessions, Metallurgical and Materials Engineer Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karaaslan will give a speech on behalf of Gedik Kaynak, titled “The Role of Welding Engineering in Shipbuilding”. Mutlu Arslan, Manager of Institutional, Assistant General Manager Responsible for Academy Emel Hayretdağ, Education Coordinator Özkan Kaya and Human Resources Manager Murat Bingül will take place as speakers at the “Three Sides Seas, Four Sides Equal Opportunity” event organized by Ekol Shipping.

On December 2, the last day of Marine Talks, there will be events on issues that have gained importance in the process of harmonization with the European Green Deal.
