The “national participation of Turkey” organized by the Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association (GYHİB) left its mark on Norshipping 2022, which was held in Norway, one of the largest markets of the ship and yacht industry, and is considered one of the most important maritime fairs in the world. Cem Seven, President of GYHİB, mentioned the importance of the Norwegian market for the sector’s exports and said, “We are very happy to hear that our efforts to explain our country and our sector in the fair area have reached their goal and that our exporting companies have provided new business connections.”
Turkey made a landing with 28 companies at the Norshipping Fair held in Oslo, Norway, which is the most important export market for the Turkish shipbuilding industry, and a shipping export worth 530 million dollars was realized in 2021. In the fair, which was held for the third time by the Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association (GYHİB), with the national participation of Turkey, 28 Turkish companies successfully represented the sector abroad, 14 of which were national participation. Turkish companies located in the D hall of the fair provided very important business contacts for 4 days.
Turkey’s shipbuilding sector was explained by marbling
In the field of Turkish national participation, a promotional event was held within the scope of the “The Art on Water” project, which has been going on for a while, for the international promotion of the Turkish ship and yacht building industries by the Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association. During the fair, the motifs of the ships exported from Turkey to Norway were performed with the art of marbling and presented to the visitors by the professional marbling artist from Turkey. The national participation area was followed with interest by all fair participants.
Norwegian Ambassador Çorman: The shipbuilding industry plays a major role in the trade volume between Turkey and Norway
Turkey’s Ambassador to Norway, Fazlı Çorman, visited Turkish companies in the fair area and hosted the Turkish participants at the embassy residence. Noting that the shipbuilding industry plays a major role in the trade volume between Turkey and Norway, Çorman drew attention to the importance of the share of ship exports in the results in favor of Turkey. Ambassador Çorman stated that the authorities in Norway conveyed their opinion that they are happy to work with Turkish shipyards and that they are proud of the fact that many ships built in Turkey in Norwegian waters are sailing and thanked the exporting companies participating in the fair.
GYHİB President Seven: Our work has reached its goal
Cem Seven, Chairman of the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters’ Association, which has undertaken the national participation in many international fairs such as SMM Hamburg, Posidonia Athens, Neva St. Petersburg, as well as the Norshipping Fair, made evaluations about the fair. Seven said, “Norway is our strongest export market. Norshipping is the most important sectoral fair event in Norway. As always, we are pleased to have represented both our country and our industry correctly by ensuring strong participation in Norway. As our esteemed ambassador expressed both in his visits to our companies and in his invitations to host us at his residence, the position of our industry in Norway is very important for both our country’s economy and the future of our industry. As the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters’ Association, we left behind a week that left a mark, both with the national participation organization and with the significant contributions of our companies that participated in the fair individually. We are very happy to hear that our efforts to explain our country and our industry in the fair area have reached their goals and that our exporting companies have provided new business connections. Our industry’s relations with Norway are not able to fit into a fair that lasts for a few days. Before and after this fair, we are in constant interaction with our commercial representatives to increase the cooperation between the two countries and to preserve the already strong image of our industry. As the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters’ Association, we will continue to proudly fly our flag, first at the Norfishing Fair to be held in Trondheim in August this year, and again at the Norshipping Fair next year.”
