The energy ship Erin Sultan of Karpowership, the global brand of Karadeniz Holding, which has the world’s largest floating power plant fleet, provides electricity to Havana, the capital of Cuba.
Operating with more than 20 power plants in more than 10 countries in the world, Karpowership’s energy ship Erin Sultan anchored in Cuba. According to the agreement, which signed between the Cuban Ministry of Energy, the energy ship Erin Sultan will illuminate Havana.
The Erin Sultan energy ship of Karpowership, one of the Turkish energy company Karadeniz Energy Group companies, was built in Italy in 1984. The ship was converted into a power ship in 2014 at the Sedef Shipyard in Tuzla.
The power plant of the 23,990 gross tonnage, 157.78m long and 30m wide ship consists of 6 MAN 18V51/60 DF-dual fuel engine-generator sets. There are 6 HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generators) combined with the exhaust stack of each engine to drive 2×10 MW steam turbine-generator sets and generate steam. The total capacity of the ship is 110 MW.
