The new ship projects that will increase the deterrence of the Turkish Navy have come to an end. The Turkish Type Assault Boat and mini submarines draw attention among the modern ships that will be included in the inventory starting next year.
STM Defense Technologies Engineering aims to deliver the first Test and Training Ship and Logistics Support Ship this month.
Enver Küçükerman, who is STM Combat Systems Group Manager, gave information about the projects the company took responsibility for and the works it carried out at the 10th Naval Systems Seminar.

STM Naval Projects Directorate carries out projects in line with the vision and project model determined by the Naval Forces Command and the Defense Industry Presidency.
As a result of the localization efforts in the MİLGEM Project, the localization rate in the MİLGEM project rose to 70-75%.
The İSTİF Class Frigate, which will further develop the domestic and national warship production capability initiated with the MİLGEM Project, was launched at the beginning of 2021 and is expected to enter the Naval Forces Command service in the second half of 2023.
The Test and Training Ship was built at the Istanbul Maritime Shipyard using the MİLGEM boat form. The shipbuilding project that STM carried out for the first time in cooperation with a national private sector shipyard is ready for delivery. The Test and Training Ship is scheduled to be delivered this month.
In accordance with the contract signed with the Presidency of Defense Industries, design studies continue to offer an effective platform solution with fast, high impact power and innovative features that will meet the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces at the highest level within the scope of the Turkish Type Assault Boat Project.
STM continues its efforts to complete all the remaining activities of the 2 ships and put them into use, which were previously started to be built in the Logistics Support Ship Project. The delivery of the first ship is planned for this month, and the second ship by the end of February 2024.
STM also undertakes responsibilities in submarine modernization abroad and submarine modernization and construction projects in Turkey. For the National Submarine Program to be carried out under the guidance of the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Naval Forces Command, STM stated that it is ready for duty in accordance with the model to be envisaged. Considering Turkey’s need for submarine design and construction, STM has completed the design of a Small Submarine and aims to start construction on the basis of the selected block, especially taking into account the demands from foreign friendly and allied countries.
