In the statement made by the Finnish company Valmet, it was stated that with the use of a wet electrostatic filter the exhaust gas emission in the marine diesel engine was reduced by up to 99 percent.
Pointing out that with the technology they have developed, shipping companies can reduce particulate matter and black carbon emission levels and fight global warming, the statement stated that the pilot test and configuration project was carried out with the Finnish Technical Research Center (VTT).
The statement pointed out that the wet electrostatic filter is used to control emissions including particulate emissions, heavy metals, acid mist, oil mist, and chimney smoke.
Juha Jokiluoma, Product Manager of Valmet, said, “The solution we are testing provides so many benefits that we believe it has great potential. Valmet now has a solution that can be installed on both new builds and already operating ships that still use conventional fuel. This will enable transport companies to significantly reduce their particulate emissions while continuing to operate normally.”
