It was learned that the general cargo ship named Serafina, owned by Dalyan Maritime and flagged by Palau, was detained in Israel’s Haifa Port.
In the statement, it was stated that 29 violations were detected on the ship, and it was emphasized that 18 of these violations alone would be enough to cause the ship to be detained.
According to foreign media reports, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Inspector Assaf Hadar announced that Serafina was the worst ship he had inspected so far during his four-year work in Israel. Hadar underlined the poor working conditions on the ship, as well as the crew’s lack of contracts.
The inspection listed a number of negative situations, such as the ship’s food freezers being faulty, rotten meat being found, insects infesting everywhere, and broken plumbing.
Stating that they have arranged portable toilets and showers at the port for the crew, (ITF) Inspector Assaf Hadar stated that they are working to enable the sailors to return to their countries.
The ship’s crew consists of 12 Turks, 5 Egyptians and 5 Azerbaijani Turks. The 10536 DWT ship is 113 meters long and 13 meters wide.
