The first of the two Logistics Support Ships, TCG Yzb. Güngör Durmuş logistics support ship (A-574), built for the needs of the Naval Forces Command within the scope of the Logistics Support Ship Project, was delivered to the Navy.
In line with the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces, the logistics support ship ‘TCG Yzb. Güngör Durmuş’ was delivered to the Naval Forces, out of 2 ships that were started to be built by Selah Shipyard in 2015 but could not be delivered due to some problems of the shipyard.
The ship’s testing and outfitting activities were carried out at Ada Shipyard. STM provided design support for the Logistics Support Ship, which was designed by the Naval Forces Command and managed by the Defense Industry Presidency.
STM continues to work on the Logistics Support Ship Project, in order to complete all remaining work on the two ships, the construction of which was started before, and put them into service. The first ship ‘TCG Yzb. Güngör Durmuş (A-574))’ is placed at the disposal of the Naval Forces today, while the second ship (TCG Utgm. Arif Ekmekçi (A-575)) is scheduled to enter service at the end of February 2024.
TCG Yzb. Güngör Durmuş Logistics Support Ship has a carrying capacity of 6 thousand DWT. The main task of the ship is to refuel the navy. With the TCG Yzb. Güngör Durmuş Logistics Support Ship, which has the capacity to carry 336 tons of helicopter fuel, 594 tons of drinking water and 8 containers of food, cargo and provisions, it is also possible to transport cargo in line with operational targets. It is known that the ship, which can hold 8 containers, also has an electro-hydraulic service crane with a lifting capacity of 18 tons on the main deck.
The ship, with a length of 106 meters and a width of 16.8 meters, has a large helipad that allows helicopter landing and take-off and also helicopters that land can be refueled. The ship, where 82 personnel can take part, can reach a speed of 12 nautical miles per hour.
