SANMAR delivered two newly built tugboats from the best-selling Boğaçay Series to Italy-based Rimorchiatori Mediterrane Group, the tugboat operator of the Mediterranean.
ORTIGIA, known as BOĞAÇAY LX while under construction, joins Rimorchiatori operations at the Port of Syracuse in Sicily, along with Augusta, Italy’s main oil port and center of petrochemical refinery operations, while SANVITALE, previously known as BOĞAÇAY LXIV and delivered this year, is also the first will work in Sicily.
Delivered in the last week of 2023, ORTIGIA became the third tugboat to be delivered to the ports of Augusta and Syracuse within a year, joining the SANMAR-built tugboats CITTA DI AUGUSTA and CITTA DI SIRACUSA.
Designed specifically for Robert Allan’s Sanmar and Rimorchiatori Mediterrane Group requirements, RAmparts 2400-SX MKll, environmentally friendly ORTIGIA, can reach at least 60 tons of draft power and 12.5 knots of free running.
Based on the RAmparts 2400-SX MKll design, the SANVITALE can achieve a pulling power of at least 70 tonnes and is also compliant with IMO Tier lll emission standards. The tugboat has a free operating speed of 12.5 knots, is 24.4 meters long, 12 meters wide and has a draft of 4.5 meters. Both tugboats also have a crew capacity of seven people.
