Derince Port, which was included in the scope of privatization with the “Transfer of Operating Rights” method with the decision of the Privatization High Council dated 30.12.2004 and numbered 2004/128, was transferred to Safi Solid Fuel Industry and Trade Inc.-Safi Derince to be operated for 39 years.
Safi Derince International Port Management Inc., a subsidiary of Safi Holding, took delivery of the port on Wednesday, February 25th by paying 543 million USD in cash to the TR Prime Ministry Privatization Presidency. Derince Port has been operated by Safi Derince International Port Management Inc. as of March 2nd, 2015.
Derince Port was put into operation in 1904 and transferred to the TR State Railways Administration in 1953, the construction of which was started in 1900 by the Anatolian Baghdad Railway Company. As of March 2015, the port continues to operate under the management of Safi Derince International Port Management, within the scope of privatization.
