A contract was signed for the submarine pipeline that will transport the gas from Sakarya Gas Field to land. $600 million transportation and installation activities will be provided for the 540 billion cubic meters of gas exploration undertaken by the Italian oilfield services company Saipem.
With Turkey’s discovery of natural gas in the Black Sea, the Italian company Saipem will lay the pipeline that will transport the gas extracted from the Sakarya Gas Field to land.
Italian oilfield services company Saipem has announced that it has signed a contract for the laying of a submarine pipeline to be built in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. According to the statement, the transportation and installation of the line, which will carry the gas in the field from under the sea to land, to a depth of 2,200 meters, will be carried out by Saipem’s Castorone ship.
The project about the 169-kilometer pipeline is planned to start in the spring of 2022.
Fatih Dönmez, who is the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, stated that the Black Sea gas will be landed in three stages and said, “We have completed the first stage, which is the design of the seabed natural gas production systems. In the first stage, we started preparations for 10 wells. In 2022, we will lay 169 kilometers of pipes on the seabed.”
It is aimed that Turkey’s 540 billion cubic meters of natural gas discovery in the Black Sea will be delivered to the network in 2023.
