It has been learned that the bulk carrier YASA Jupiter, which belongs to YASA Denizcilik, was hit off the coast of Odesa.
A bomb or a rocket hit the wall of the hold no. 5 of the ship, which had just set off from Odesa Port to Istanbul at 14.00.
It was learned that while there was slight material damage on the ship, there was no loss of life and the ship continued on its normal route.
YASA Jupiter, 199 meters long and 32 meters wide, was on the route Brazil – Gibraltar – Odesa – Istanbul.
Statement by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs
The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs has released a statement on the shooting of YASA Jupiter. The statement included the following:
“After the meeting held on the information that a bomb had hit the Turkish-owned Yasa Jupiter ship with the Marshall Islands flag off Odesa, it was learned that there was no request for help, that the ship was in transit to Romanian territorial waters, that there was no loss of life, and that it was safe”
