The live fish transport ship “Inter Atlantic”, built by Zamakona Shipyard for the Norwegian company Internship, has been launched. Inter Atlantic’s electrical projects and equipment were carried out by Elkon Electricity Industry and Trade Inc, together with Elkon’s Spanish partner SOLING.
The 76.60 meters long and 17 meters wide live fish transport vessel will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022. Planned to be built for the ship of which Elkon is an electrical project partner and will operate in eastern Canada and serve Mowi ASA, the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon.
The ship has a hybrid propulsion system with the use of high-capacity batteries and different energy recovery solutions to increase efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.
The ship will be equipped with a reverse osmosis system for freshwater production and innovative processing and biological treatment systems to protect live fish during transport.
