A cutting ceremony was held for the first of two environmentally friendly container ships of 650 TEU each, signed by Sedef Shipyard with Dutch A2B-online.
In the statement made by the shipyard, “As Sedef Shipyard, we are happy to announce that the sheet metal cutting ceremony of the NB226 project, which we will build for A2B-online, one of the youngest shipping companies in the Netherlands, was held. “The construction journey of the environmentally friendly container ship project NB226 with a capacity of 650 TEU has begun.” The ships are also being built to accommodate 70 refrigerated containers each.
The ships, which are planned to be equipped with the latest technology to reduce carbon emissions by up to 95 percent, will have a methanol-electric propulsion system and battery capacity to operate emission-free during port and inland water operations.
The ships were developed by the A2B-online Ship Management technical team and Naval Architect Technolog.
A2B-online Ship Management, the youngest shipping company in the Netherlands, currently operates seven container ships. The company operates the ports of Thamesport, Immingham, Teesport and Blyth between Moerdijk and Botlek.
