The steel cutting ceremony was held for the first of four 6,600 dwt methanol dual fuel stainless steel chemical tankers delivered by UK-based RFOcean to Wuhu Shipyard in China.
While the management of RFOcean’s new constructions is managed by Miklagard S Ship Management, the company’s Istanbul-based ship management company, the haircut of the first ship was done by general manager Tayfun Bozoğlu.
Ships whose main propulsion system is planned to be an electric engine powered by a generator instead of the traditional main engine will have IMO 2 notation. The 113.6 meter long tankers will be built according to Bureau Veritas class.
The four ships, whose cost is stated to be 80 million dollars, will be delivered in 2025 and 2026.
RFOcean currently has six chemical tankers in its fleet, ranging from 3,557 dwt to 19,118 dwt.
