GMZ Ship Management, whose 1997-built, 32,000 dwt bulk carrier named Rubymar was hit by two missiles by the Houthis on March 2, 2024 and sank after drifting off the coast of Yemen, has set course for Türkiye for its new ship.
According to the information obtained by HaberDenizi.com, Greece-based GMZ purchased the 31,800 dwt bulk carrier Ahu C, built in 2004, in the Manta Maritime fleet.
Insurance uncertainty…
On the other hand, the insurance coverage of GMZ’s sinking ship still remains unclear. It was reported that the P&I of the ship, which had war insurance, did not cover the pollution. With the sinking of the ship, 22 thousand tons of fertilizer, 200 tons of fuel oil and 80 tons of diesel were washed into the sea.
