Med Marine General Manager Yıldız Bozkurt Özcan said, “Since the beginning of known history, the Danube has connected the nations and civilizations living on its shores with each other and the rest of the world. The first ship of the series, Sulina 2, was delivered by Med Marine on May 20, 2021, and the second ship, Covurlui, on June 1, 2021. Tugs built by Med Marine operate on the Danube and ensure the safety and security of maritime traffic.
The tugs Sulina 2 and Covurlui were custom-built for AFDJ’s operational requirements, mainly in the Danube. The tug was prepared for IMO Tier III regulations and BV Ice Class 1A Super notation.
The Schottel SRP460FP is equipped with twin Caterpillar 3512C diesel providing 1,902 kW each, connected to fixed pitch ASD units, THR Marine forward, and aft winches.
