Beşiktaş Shipyard published a statement following the accident that resulted in the death of two workers.
The statement included the following statements:
“On Friday, August 2, 2024, while working with a basket crane on the outer cladding of the ship, which was under repair in the floating dock, in our shipyard, a tragic accident occurred as a result of the basket falling from a height.
In this accident, our colleagues Doğanay Kurt and Mehmet Kesik, who were in the basket, fell to the bottom of the pool and were seriously injured. Immediately after the accident, our shipyard’s medical personnel and 112 medical teams quickly responded to the scene; However, unfortunately Doğanay Kurt died at the scene and Mehmet Kesik died in the hospital where he was taken.”
Independent experts will examine
“Following the investigation by the judicial authorities, our company has planned to have an accident incident analysis carried out by an independent expert organization and will share the results with the public.
We are deeply saddened by this sad event. We wholeheartedly share the pain of the families, relatives and all our colleagues of our deceased colleagues; We ask for our condolences and patience.
