The LNG bunker barge Energy Stockholm, built by RMK Marine shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul and launched in July 2023, is underway for its new duty station.
Designed by International Naval Engineering Consultants (INEC), the 135-meter-long, 22-meter-wide and 8,000 m³ carrying capacity LNG tanker was built for the Belgian company LNG Shipping.
The vessel, which can reach a speed of 11 knots, will be leased to Shell Western LNG B.V. (Shell) for refueling operations on the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam (ARA) route by LNG Shipping on a long-term basis.
Energy Stockholm holds the title of being the largest LNG bunker barge ever built in Europe for inland waterway transportation.
The ship, which has dual-fuel propulsion using cargo boil-off gas to increase fuel efficiency, is the first LNG bunker barge to use shore power and battery technology to help reduce carbon emissions.
