According to the information obtained from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) data, the export of Turkish salmon, which is grown by transferring it to sea cages in the Black Sea after reaching a certain weight in established farms in the waters, was 330 million 169 thousand 400 dollars in January-September 2023, and reached 351 million 350 thousand 868 dollars in the same period this year.
The amount of exported products increased
The amount of exported products also increased from 51 thousand 239 tons to 57 thousand 675 tons. Turkish salmon exports thus increased by 13 percent in quantity and 6 percent in value compared to the same period last year. There was a 23 percent increase in salmon exports to the Russian Federation.
During this period, 42,252 tons of salmon were exported from Türkiye to the Russian Federation, generating a profit of 244 million 228 thousand 634 dollars.
Salmon exports to this country increased by 23 percent in value and quantity compared to the first 9 months of last year, when 197 million 790 thousand 26 dollars were earned for 34 thousand 382 tons.
Unlike the same period last year, salmon was also exported from Türkiye to the Philippines, Egypt, Oman, Slovenia, Bahrain, Uzbekistan and Serbia during this period.
People’s Republic of China is an important market
DKİB Chairman of the Board of Directors Saffet Kalyoncu said that they attach importance to Turkish salmon, which is among the important export products of the aquaculture sector.
Kalyoncu, who pointed out that they are working as DKİB to increase market diversity, stated that they see the People’s Republic of China as an important market in this context.
Kalyoncu emphasized that they attach importance to promotional activities and said, “We will focus on promotional activities in the People’s Republic of China, which we see as an important market for Turkish salmon, and in this context, we will promote by opening a stand at the largest aquaculture fair to be held in China in the last week of October.”
